Patented SNARECOIL™ 13 gauge × 2 inch bone marrow biopsy needle. The thinner cannula and shorter working length are designed for thin-cortex biopsy contexts and other smaller-anatomy applications.
Caution: Federal (USA) law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician.
The Ranfac RBN-132 is a 13 gauge × 2 inch single-use bone marrow biopsy needle in the patented SNARECOIL™ family. The thinner 13 G cannula and shorter 2-inch working length make this configuration the smallest in the line — designed for thin-cortex anatomy and other contexts where reduced cortical depth and a smaller bore are preferred.
RBN-132 is the small-bore short-length 13 G × 2 inch SNARECOIL™ configuration, intended for thin-cortex anatomy, lower-volume diagnostic, or specialized-protocol biopsy. The 3 inch RBN-133 extends the same gauge for slightly deeper access.
Per 510(k) K983187: For procuring bone marrow core biopsies from patients with hematologic abnormalities. Per IFU 29024-01P: The Ranfac Bone Marrow Biopsy Needle is indicated for the surgical harvesting of bone marrow.
13 gauge × 2 inch SNARECOIL™ is selected for posterior iliac crest biopsy where thin-cortex anatomy, low BMI, or any context calls for a smaller-bore, shorter-depth instrument is clinically appropriate. Per the 29024-01P Rev J Instructions for Use, the device is contraindicated for sternal procedures and should only be used at sites approved by the supervising physician.
Smaller bore and shorter working length for thin-cortex posterior iliac crest biopsy. Use only at sites approved by the supervising physician.
Low-BMI patients, geriatric anatomy, or shallow cortical access where 11G/4-inch needles are not appropriate.
Captive specimen retention supports recovery of long, non-fragmented cores.
Long, intact cores reduce specimen-handling artifacts during fixation, sectioning, and immunohistochemistry — supporting accurate, reproducible reads.

The 13 gauge × 2 inch configuration is designed for thin-cortex biopsy contexts and other smaller-anatomy applications, but procedure suitability and biopsy site selection are the responsibility of the supervising physician per the IFU.
Both are 13 gauge SNARECOIL™ biopsy needles. RBN-132 has a 2-inch working length; RBN-133 has a 3-inch working length. Selection is driven by cortical depth at the planned biopsy site.
SNARECOIL™ is Ranfac's patented captive specimen-capture mechanism. A lever on the ergonomic handle engages the cannula tip to retain the marrow core during withdrawal.
