Patented SNARECOIL™ 8 gauge × 4 inch bone marrow biopsy needle. The 8 G large-bore cannula is designed for high-volume core specimens — useful when the protocol calls for larger marrow tissue volume.
Caution: Federal (USA) law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician.
The Ranfac RBN-84 is an 8 gauge × 4 inch single-use bone marrow biopsy needle in the patented SNARECOIL™ family. The 8 G cannula is the largest bore in the SNARECOIL™ line — designed for protocols where larger marrow tissue volume is preferred (e.g., specific research, cell-yield, or pathology workflows). The ergonomic handle includes a captive-mechanism lever for long, non-fragmented core recovery.
RBN-84 is the large-bore 8 G × 4 inch SNARECOIL™ configuration, selected when procedures require higher specimen volume or wider cores than the standard 11 G provides. The 6 inch RBN-86 extends the same gauge for deeper access.
Per 510(k) K983187: For procuring bone marrow core biopsies from patients with hematologic abnormalities. Per IFU 29024-01P: The Ranfac Bone Marrow Biopsy Needle is indicated for the surgical harvesting of bone marrow.
8 gauge × 4 inch SNARECOIL™ is selected when posterior iliac crest biopsy requires the largest available specimen volume — including specific cell-yield, immunohistochemistry, or research-grade tissue protocols. The captive SNARECOIL™ mechanism supports long, intact core recovery despite the large bore. Per the 29024-01P Rev J Instructions for Use, the device is contraindicated for sternal procedures.
8 G large-bore cannula for protocols requiring increased marrow tissue volume.
Lymphoma, leukemia, MDS, multiple myeloma workups requiring intact core specimens.
Long, non-fragmented cores suitable for immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry preparation, and research tissue protocols.
Long, intact cores reduce specimen-handling artifacts during fixation, sectioning, and immunohistochemistry — supporting accurate, reproducible reads.

Choose 8 G when a larger marrow specimen volume is needed — for example, specific cell-yield, immunohistochemistry, or research-grade tissue protocols. The 11 G RBN-114 is the more common diagnostic configuration. Site selection and bore choice are physician-determined per the IFU.
SNARECOIL™ is Ranfac's patented captive specimen-capture mechanism. A lever on the ergonomic handle engages the cannula tip to retain the marrow core during withdrawal.
